The historic population figures on AltaPop are official counts from past Federal Censuses performed by Statistics Canada between 1901 and 2001 inclusive, and Municipal/Civic Censuses performed by Alberta’s individual municipalities from 1960 to the present year inclusive, which were accepted by Alberta’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs. The dates of municipal incorporations, including amalgamations and dissolutions, have been provided to augment the population data where available or applicable.
